The Client Detail View in Quicken provides a comprehensive overview of a client’s financial information, including transactions, expenses, notes, and profitability. To access the Client Detail View, follow these actions:

  1. Navigate to Business > Clients and select a client.

Exploring the client detail view

The Client Detail View is organized into several tabs, each providing specific insights into the client’s financial activity.

Overview tab

The Overview Tab provides a snapshot of the client’s financial performance and key metrics:

  • Income vs. Expenses: Displays a visual comparison of the client’s revenue and costs.

  • Profitability: Shows the total profit generated from the client.

  • Recent Activity: Lists the most recent transactions or changes associated with the client.

  • Client Info: Displays key contact information, such as name, email, and phone number.

Transactions tab

The Transactions Tab lists all financial transactions linked to the client:

  • Columns include:

    • Date

    • Type (e.g., invoice, payment)

    • Amount

    • Category

    • Status

  • Use the Search and Filter options to refine the list, such as viewing transactions within a specific date range or for a particular category.

Expenses tab

The Expenses Tab provides a breakdown of billable and non-billable expenses for the client:

  • Filter expenses by Date Range, Status (e.g., Billed, Not Billed), or Type.

  • Use the Billable checkbox to mark an expense as billable if not already assigned.

  • Review total expenses to better understand costs associated with the client.

Notes tab

The Notes Tab allows you to add and manage essential details about the client:

  • Add notes to track client preferences, meeting summaries, or project updates.

  • Review existing notes to maintain a history of client interactions.

  • Edit or delete outdated notes as needed.
